Görkem Mergen, PhD
Founder

Dr. Mergen is a chemist. He had two masters degrees on Polymer Chemistry and Forensic Toxicology, and completed PhD studies in toxicology at Ankara University, Turkey and University of Porto, Portugal. He worked for 11 years in academia (as Research Assistant and as Assistant Professor), he shifted his career to academic e-publishing services and worked 10 additional years in sales, and business development for Chemical, Medical and Academic products.

Merging two decades of academy and publishing experience, he invested all his expertise to build up Mergen CS to provide high quality solutions in Turkey, Europe and Turkic Republics.

Academia
Having chemistry focused higher educations and PhD in Toxicology, Dr. Mergen, executed quite a few laboratory projects; coordinated and managed academic responsibilities; gave lectures and published his academic work in high-impact journals during his 11 years of research and academic career (RA and as Assistant Professor) in Turkey and Portugal.

Publishing Industry
He started working in the academic e-publishing industry in 2012. He worked as an information consultant & international sales manager at a service provider. He conducted more than 100 on-site training sessions for higher ed. institutions as well as corporate and governmental customers. He had a core sales focus not only in Turkey, but also in GCC countries, the Balkans, and Turkic Republics. He actively represented and made sales for a variety of global publishers from ‘academic integrity’ to ‘chemistry’, ‘medicine’, ‘pharmacy’, and ‘engineering’. He attended many national and international congresses and fairs, as an invited speaker. He took major roles in national licensing of academic products, business planning, and sales strategy developments; and has been mentoring on sales of scientific information-related subjects to his team members.
